Adriana Marie Co. Shoot

385221_406592202757932_935676678_nLast year I modeled Adriana Marie’s upcoming Spring/Summer collection. Her line is a variety of comfortable cute t-shirts, tank- tops and more. I was accompanied by my friend Jorge who produced the shoot, Darlenis Duran who was also a model and Rachel Wood who was our make- up artist. The shoot took place in a studio in Harlem. I fell in love with all of her t-shirts because they weren’t only made from super soft fabric but the inspiring optimistic messages printed on all of them is what sold me.  The designer Adriana herself was a pleasure to work with and I look forward to working with her again. Fashion week is coming up so don’t hesitate to check out her show and new line coming soon. You can find her collection at adriana-marie.com.

Here are a few of the photos from the shoot that I like the most.

Today’s Inspiration!

When Jada Pinkett-Smith was asked why she let her daughter Willow shave her head, this is what she said:

“This subject is old but I have never answered it in its entirety. And even with this post it will remain incomplete.

The question

why I would LET Willow cut her hair. First the LET must be challenged. This is a world where women, girls are constantly reminded that they don’t belong to themselves; that their bodies are not their own, nor their power, or self determination. I made a promise to endow my little girl with the power to always know that her body, spirit, and her mind are HER domain. Willow cut her hair because her beauty, her value, her worth is not measured by the length of her hair. It’s also a statement that claims that even little girls have the RIGHT to own themselves and should not be a slave to even their mother’s deepest insecurities, hopes, and desires. Even little girls should not be a slave to the preconceived ideas of what a culture believes a little girl should be. More to come. Another day.”

Fashion Night Out

This was the 3rd year in a row, I celebrated FNO [Fashion's Night Out]. Every year I spend FNO completely different. This year I barely checked out the stores and attractions. The crowd isn’t my thing anymore and all I ready wanted to see was the crazy, fancy and cool outfits being worn that night. My superman and his friend Tony decided to spend FNO with me. This was their first time celebrating FNO, so they weren’t sure what to expect. I told them both to get really dressy and for my supermen to match me..hehehe we looked cute! Continue reading

Kanielle’s Baby Shower

March 14th, 2012, I attended my cousin Kanielle’s baby shower in the Lower East Side. The shower was a surprise planned by her cousin Hayley and her love Louie. They were getting things ready for months so Kanielle would have the perfect baby shower. I missed the surprise but I heard Kanielle was super surprised and everything worked out as planned. Kanielle is having a baby boy who’s name will be Mason Lee. Continue reading

1950′s Pin Up Party @ Midnight Blue Lounge

Last Saturday March 25, 2012; Sara and I hosted our first party at the  Midnight Blue Lounge in the upper east side of Manhattan. My two good friends Melissa {husband} and Chevy were born a day apart; Melissa on February 23 and Chevy on February 24. What better reason to throw a party and get a first hand taste of party planning. Chevy wanted a 1950′s theme for her birthday this year and with Melissa’s ok we went with that theme. 1950′s pin-up in very popular nowadays, so everyone was in to the theme. I made the invites classy, sexy and simple to reflect the pin-up culture and it was a big hit! For 3 weeks as a the party planner and host I had so much work to do. Party planning is no joke, from the bad communication to the search for speakers and the horrible Uhaul truck nightmare,…. I loved every bit of it, LOL . I literally went 37 hours of no sleep because I not only worked my regular two jobs Friday but I had to prepare for the party….. Continue reading
